Samo (Upwas Rice) ki kheer

Samo (Upwas Rice) ki kheer (bhagar Rice , Jungle Rice )


  • 1 cup samo roasted in ghee
  • 4 cups of milk boiled
  • dry fruits of your choice like almond , kismis, kaju
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 table spoon ghee
  • Pinch of grounded cardamom 


  • Wash samo with water until water gets clear.
  • Heat ghee in pan add samo and roast it for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Another side boil milk in pan , when milk gets boiled add samo and stir it continuously for 3 to 4 minutes otherwise samo gets stick in a pan .
  • Cover it for few minutes so that samo will get cooked properly.
  • Cook until samo rice gets tender and milk gets creamy .
  • Add sugar and all dry fruits and cardamom and lets simmer for another few minutes.
  • Turn off the heat.
  • As kheer cools of will become thicker in texture.
  • You can serve it warm or chilled .
