Pav Recipe

Pav Recipe

For 18 Pav


  • 4 cups all purpose flour plus few more for dusting 
  • 1.5  tea spoon Dry Yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm Water
  • 1 cup  milk 
  • 4 tsp Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt


  • Mix water and milk together warm it up .
  • Now Dissolve yeast  sugar and salt  in the warm water and milk then let stand for  five minutes, until bubbly.
  • Mix with the flour knead dough until smooth, springy and elastic, about 10 minutes. 
  • add butter and mix it properly again. 
  • Place dough in greased bowl. 
  • Cover and let rise until double, 1 hour. keep it in a warm place.
  • Knead it again with soft hand .
  • Make small bowls and Place on greased cookie sheet sprinkled with flour. 
  • Cover and let rise until doubled, 45 minutes to an hour. 

  • Before keeping in oven brush the bowls with milk so that pav will come golden brown.
  •  Bake at 375F  for 20-30 minutes, until the bread is deep golden brown 
  • Remove from cookie sheet and let cool.coat it with oil or butter.

Serve hot with bhaji.


Some people use only water for kneading but mixing milk makes soft pav, I will say milk is the key ingredient.
